The Ramallah Recreation Complex

The Ramallah Recreation Complex is a modern architectural gem situated in the scenic area of Ain Karzem in Ramallah. The complex covers 5.7 dunams and is located in a prime location with access to major roads, public transportation, and nearby recreational and community facilities.

Distinctive Features of the Ramallah Recreation Complex:

IBSA Sports Center:
The first phase of the Ramallah Recreation Complex was developed in partnership with IBSA (India, Brazil, and South Africa), with support from UNDP. Designed to international standards, the sports center provides inclusive facilities for individuals with disabilities, creating a welcoming space for both local and visiting athletes and fostering athletic development across Ramallah. The sports center includes:

  • A multi-purpose indoor hall, 1,010 square meters and built to FIFA standards, accommodates a variety of sports: basketball, volleyball, handball, soccer, fitness, yoga, and more. Weekly, the center offers five community sports activities free of charge.
  • Audience seating for up to 400 spectators, accessible through three entrances.
  • Health units, player locker rooms, a clinic, a ticket center, and sports equipment storage.
  • Disability-friendly space, with an impressive 6-meter ceiling, lighting, fire alarms, and emergency exits.

Outdoor Fields and Gardens:

  • A versatile outdoor field of 540 square meters for basketball, volleyball, handball, and tennis.
  • Seating for up to 200 spectators and green spaces with seating areas for families and children.
  • Fully accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Lycée Français International:
The Lycée Français International opened at the Ramallah Recreation Complex in 2023. Spread across two floors, the school includes classrooms, a library, an indoor play area, a cafeteria, and administrative offices. The school also provides accessibility accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Al Nayzak Foundation:
Located on the lower level of the complex, the Al Nayzak Foundation is a five-year pilot project laying the groundwork for a long-term interactive science center in Ramallah.

Established in Jerusalem in 2003, Al Nayzak is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to education, research, and innovation in natural sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through interactive and reflective learning, Al Nayzak inspires a culture of knowledge creation, critical thinking, and community empowerment.

Hosting Community Institutions:
The complex also houses the offices of Young Artists Forum and Ramallah Youth Club.

Young Artists Forum: A community organization empowering Palestinian children to use art as a tool for expression and change. The forum supports talented youth in discovering and enhancing their artistic abilities.

Ramallah Youth Club: A social youth club focused on integrating children and youth into the community, providing various programs to foster a sense of belonging and community development.
