The municipality follows an annual cleaning plan that includes three daily shifts. Over 120 employees in the Solid Waste Department work to maintain cleanliness across the city. The department operates 16 street sweepers, 3 garbage compactors, and 12 waste collection trucks, which gather the trash and transport it to the transfer station before being sent to the landfill. Additionally, 2,700 waste bins are strategically placed throughout the city to ensure accessibility for residents. The municipality allocates approximately 11 million shekels annually for this effort.
It’s worth noting that the Israeli occupation imposes obstacles on municipalities, making it difficult to establish waste disposal sites, which could help reduce annual costs.
