As part of its annual plan, the Ramallah Municipality issued tenders for road construction, paving, and rehabilitation for the year 2023. The municipality began rehabilitating a total of 10,000 meters of roads across the city, alongside the creation of new sidewalks, paving intersections, and maintaining streets to address issues such as subsidence and cracking.
The list of rehabilitated streets includes: Athena Street, Count Bernadotte Street, Zahra Street, Karama Street, George Sa’a Street, Ramallah Sons Street, Majid Abu Sharar Street, Desmond Tutu Street, Al-Jahiz Street, Bismon Street, as well as the widening of Al-Nahda Street, Shoubak Street, Friends Street, Mar Andreas Street, Mother Teresa Street, Emile Gouri Street, Michael Angelo Street, Raffaelli Tistrello Street, Al-Razi Street, Henry Ketten Street, Mohammed Youssef Al-Najjar Street, Al-Nanani Street, part of Damascus Street, Louis Favreau Street, Naji Al-Ali Street, and Gamal Abdel Nasser Street. Work is ongoing on Yafa Street, Abneh Street, Bismon Street, and Aqir Street. These works include road resurfacing, infrastructure rehabilitation, sidewalk restoration, repainting, the installation of traffic signals, and repairs to damaged areas, along with adjustments to manhole elevations.
Intersection and Square Creation and Rehabilitation:
The municipality rehabilitated seven intersections, which include: the intersection of Shoubak Street with Ahmed A’rabi Street in Ain Menjed, the intersection of Yafa Street with Al-Ayam Street in the industrial area, the intersection of Municipality Street with Dar Jaghb Street in the old town, the intersection of Al-Razi Street with Jabra Ibrahim Jabra Street in Baten Al-Hawa, two intersections near the Consultative Hospital, the intersection of Hanna Naqqara Street with Adel Azzar Street in Ein Munjed, and the intersection of Yafa Street.
Expansion of the City’s Road Network:
The municipality expanded the road network by carrying out excavation work in streets including Majid Abu Sharar, Louis Favreau, Ramallah Sons, Desmond Tutu, Bismon, Al-Jahiz, Gaza, and Aqir. This expansion is part of the effort to widen the existing road network, create new roads, and ease traffic congestion, ultimately enhancing service for the residents of Ramallah.
Sidewalk Creation and Rehabilitation:
In 2023, the municipality completed the creation of new sidewalks and medians totaling 3,000 meters across various locations, including Count Bernadotte, Athena, Zahra, George Sa’a, and Al-Nahda Streets.
