Greening the City of Ramallah Project

The Ramallah Municipality has undertaken greening the city, with a focus on enhancing its environmental appeal and urban landscape. This project includes a variety of efforts aimed at improving the city's green spaces.

In 2023, the municipality's dedicated teams planted and pruned trees across all city neighborhoods, sidewalks, medians, and public squares. These efforts have contributed significantly to beautifying the streets, improving pedestrian movement, and strengthening the growth and structure of the trees. Over 1,000 trees and shrubs were planted in various parts of the city, particularly along newly established sidewalks, contributing to the city's charm and livability. Furthermore, the municipality has revitalized all public squares in the city. Regular tree pruning, especially before the winter season, has also been a key component of maintaining the health and aesthetic of the city's trees.

The Ramallah Municipality has approved a special tree-planting plan to establish vast green spaces across the city. The first phase of this project involves planting 3,500 trees in five locations across Ramallah.

Additionally, efforts are being made to reintroduce and propagate historic trees that have been endangered due to urban development, such as oak, elm, terebinth, carob, and other traditional species. Through a collaborative initiative with interested stakeholders, the municipality aims to produce 10,000 saplings over the next three years.
