The Stray Dog Sterilization Project aims to address the issue of stray dogs in a compassionate, scientific manner, following internationally recognized practices known as the catch, sterilize, vaccinate, and release program.
The center was established in 2022, and includes an administrative facility, a holding area for the dogs, a veterinary clinic, and a recovery space where dogs can heal after their procedures.
The municipality collects stray dogs from areas where complaints have been raised. The dogs are then brought to the sterilization center, where they undergo sterilization and neutering surgeries performed by professional veterinarians. Afterward, the dogs are given time to recover at the center, receive the necessary vaccinations, and are marked with an identification ear tag to indicate they are safe for public interaction. Once fully recovered, the dogs are released back into their original environments, and they are also made available for adoption.
